Support small business in Jackson County on Black Friday 2020, Small Business Saturday

JACKSON, MI – Black Friday and Small Business Saturday may look different this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Jackson County small businesses are still ready to serve customers.

MLive and the Jackson Citizen Patriot compiled a non-exhaustive list of small businesses throughout the county open for people who want to do their holiday shopping and support local businesses.

12 tips for Black Friday fanatics looking to navigate pandemic holiday shopping

Anyone who is sick should not go out and go shopping, Jackson Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Cory Mays said.

People should consider downloading a mobile app called MI COVID Alert, from the state of Michigan, which is made for situations like Black Friday shopping. It will notify you of potential coronavirus exposures.

“Obviously, there are lots of restrictions, as there should be: masks, social distancing, people are encouraged to shop in small family groups – all the things we know we’re supposed to do,” Mays said. “We’ve got to work together to keep everybody safe.”

The store windows of many downtown Jackson businesses are decorated for a DDA competition. This year’s theme is “joy.”

“It has been hard to find joy within all of this,” Mays said. “How do we stop and recognize there is joy to be found? There are a lot of amazing things happening.

“Life is not what we want it to be and there are so many horrible things happening around us, but there’s still a chance to stop and take a minute and recognize the joy of the season.”

Here’s a list of businesses and their hours, divided by city and township.
